Question: Am I correct in thinking that a hotel type hair dryer (sealed Class II device) can be installed in Zone 3 of a bathroom?

If so, I presume that it would need a two-pole isolation outside the room, and be fed from an RCD protected radial circuit - is this so?

Answer: IMPORTANT - Please note there is now NO Zone 3. If you are outhwith Zones 0, 1 or 2, the area is deemed to be outwith the Zones.

All circuits within a bathroom require to be protected by a 30mA RCD.

Although there is no requirement in the Regulations for a two-pole switch, a two-pole device is generally installed via the switched spur unit supplying the equipment.
