EMCOR Group (UK) is proud to announce that thousands of its employees at more than 70 locations nationwide will be supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month by donning EMCOR Pink Hard Hats throughout October as part of the Company's 'Protect Yourself. Be Breast Aware' campaign.

A series of events will also see workers wearing EMCOR Pink Hard Hats and forming themselves into giant human pink ribbons at EMCOR client sites across the country, starting at Somerset House on 1st October and continuing at British Airways Headquarters at Heathrow, Birmingham City Council's offices on Woodcock Street, the Health Protection Agency at Porton Down near Salisbury and Woodland View at Prudhoe Hospital in Northumberland. EMCOR UK provides engineering services, facilities management, and sustainable business solutions for a diverse range of private and public sector organisations.

By proudly wearing EMCOR Pink Hard Hats again this October, EMCOR employees will be challenging the 'macho' image of the construction industry, and raising awareness day-in-day-out of the UK's most common cancer amongst the millions of men and women who use and pass by the buildings that EMCOR manages or constructs across the UK, which include airports, hospitals, shopping centres, colleges and government facilities.

Breast cancer mortality rates in the UK have fallen steeply in the last two decades, more than in any other country in Europe*, due to earlier detection, breast screening and better treatments. This underlines the continuing importance of breast awareness, which is supported by EMCOR's campaign 'Call to Action' to 'Protect Yourself. Be Breast Aware', as well as with its fundraising component --- for every EMCOR Pink Hard Hat worn in the UK the Company will donate £10 to a breast cancer charity. Additionally, EMCOR's offices and client sites across the country will also be holding local fundraising events.

"The unusual sight of our employees across the country, wearing EMCOR Pink Hard Hats throughout the whole month will help spread the message to women and men everywhere to 'Protect Yourself. Be Breast Aware'."

EMCOR UK's parent company, EMCOR Group, Inc., and many of its 75 subsidiaries - of which EMCOR UK is one - have long been supporters of breast cancer awareness. EMCOR Pink Hard Hat events will be taking place to raise awareness of breast cancer at locations across the U.S., including Johns Hopkins Hospital and Yale Cancer Center and Yale School of Medicine. * British Medical Journal online
