In a quite spectacular weekend of racing in the British Superbike Championship at Cadwell Park, Tommy Hill, sponsored by Adaptaflex, hit top form and notched the team’s first win at Cadwell since 2004 in the first race and followed up with 2nd place in race two to finish joint leader of the Championship.

“This was so good and exactly what we needed at this stage of the Championship,” said an exhilarated Tommy Hill. “The team is buzzing and I just want to thank them all for their hard work this weekend as I feel we have really made big steps forward with the settings.”
Flying in the first race he took the lead from Josh Brookes on the eighth lap and maintained the position with consistent 1.27 minute laps to take the chequered flag by a comfortable 5.116 seconds. Similarly, in the second race there was a chance for Tommy to make it a double when he made an excellent start leading from the front over the first 11 laps. However, he remained inseparable from Josh Brookes on the Honda. A small mistake saw Brookes take the lead and as Hill was positioning to repass his rival on lap 14 when the red flags came out following a serious crash to bring the race to a premature end.
“It was a real shame about the red flags, but that’s racing,” exclaimed Tommy. “In all I feel overjoyed. We get to leave Cadwell having effectively won the first part of the season and having beaten the HM Plant team in their backyard, which really is kind of bonus for us. But now its crunch time and to be going into this vital part of the season with a joint points lead is a great position to be in.”
Worx Crescent Suzuki Team Manager Jack Valentine added, “There’s been so much work gone into this weekend and everyone can see we’ve made a major breakthrough with our set-up which has really boosted Tommy’s confidence. He could have had two wins this weekend, but we’ll never know. The important thing is we are in the strongest possible position as we head into the Showdown. The GSX-R is the strongest it’s been all season and Tommy’s got all the confidence in the world.”
Cadwell signalled a double bonus for the Hill family with Jimmy Hill notching 2nd place in the Metzeler National Supertrack Championship race riding his Triumph. In one of his best performances of the season Jimmy, who is also sponsored by Adaptaflex, managed to record the fastest lap of the race at 1.32.912.
The next round of the British Superbike Championship is also the first round of the Showdown and takes place at Croft on 10,11,12 September. The top 6 riders in the championship standings now become the Title Fighters in The Showdown and have their points elevated to 500. Podium credits are then added to their total before they fight it out over the final three rounds to decide the 2010 MCE BSN Champion.
