This step by step guide includes motor testing, ring final circuits, lighting circuits and luminaires  and testing of RCDs. Filmed with the help of Nestle UK's York factory. Brilliant for trainee electricians or those who just want to keep up to date.

1.  Introduction to inspection and testing on an industrial installation: Inspection and testing before an installation is fully commissioned is a critical task and one which will form the foundation of a planned inspection and maintenance schedule throughout the whole life of the installation.

 2.  This part of the video describes the supply characteristics and earthing arrangements and how you go about filling in this part of the form. You should have a distribution drawing of the system you are working on.

 3.  At this point, we will enter the details of installation at the origin at the relevant points on the form.

 4.  Visual inspection of the installation, methods of protecting against electric shock, prevention of mutually detrimental influence, identification, cables and conductors, schedule of items tested.

 5.  Details of the circuits to be inspected, and a record of the instruments used for testing.

 6.  Testing and recording the results.

 7.  The Insulation Resistance Test and the safe way in which the test is conducted.

 8.  The Earth Loop Impedance test and the safe way in which the test is conducted.

 9.  In this section the video will go through the whole set of tests that are to be conducted on motors and some of the special circumstances.

 10.  Ring Final Circuit tests and the safe way in which the tests will be conducted.

 11.  Testing industrial lighting ciruits and luminaires: discharge lighting, usually fluorescent, sodium or metal halide.

 12.  The testing procedure of RCD's and the restrictions placed upon their usage.

 13.  Finalising the testing and inspection documentation.
