Machinery Directive ushers in new safety thinking, says ABB

Attitudes to safety are changing. Under the new Machinery Directive, introduced last year, machine builders remain responsible for building safety into their products to prevent accidents. Indeed, they can carry out self-certification without a recognised test centre, provided that they have a quality assurance procedure according to the Directive. Certifications must be inspected by a recognised test centre every five years:
