Question: I've been asked by a customer to supply him the fault ratings of tri-rated cable, but I cannot find them and my supplier does not have them. Can you help?

Answer: The maximum short rating current is based on a temperature rise from 90oC to 160oC.

The calculation for a one second short circuit is: conductor CSA x k
(where k = 100).

Ratings for other durations (t): conductor CSA x k / square root 't'
