A new factsheet is now available from ABB providing advice on the Government’s Feed-in Tariff scheme, which is shortly due to be introduced into the UK.
Aimed at encouraging the adoption of renewable energy technologies amongst smaller-scale users, the Feed-in-Tariff will reward residential, commercial and industrial users of renewable energy sources up to 5MW by enabling them to claim back up to 41p/kWh on the energy they produce. As an added incentive, users will also be entitled to a bonus of 3p/kWh for any surplus power supplied to the Grid.
The initiative covers various key renewable technologies, namely solar photovoltaic, wind, hydro power, Micro CHP (Combined heating and Power) and anaerobic digestion.
ABB’s guide provides information on how the tariff works, how much energy producers can expect to earn from the scheme and how they can go about measuring their energy use.
The guide also features ABB’s key low voltage control, distribution and protection products for renewable energy installations, including its range of energy meters for accurate measurement of electricity consumption.
Other products featured include ABB’s range of surge protection devices, circuit breakers and miniature circuit breakers (MCBs), residual current devices (RCDs) contactors, switches and disconnectors and enclosures. For more information, click here.
ABB has extensive expertise in the manufacture and supply of electrical products and systems for renewable energy applications and is widely involved in solar and wind power projects worldwide.
