Question: I've been told that, as a building user, it is my responsibility to provide emergency lighting. Is this correct?

Answer: It is correct that, as the building operator, it is your responsibility to provide a safe environment for staff and visitors. This should be validated by a risk assessment to ensure that - as a minimum - you meet the requirements of BS5266. This, however, is the minimum you should do, and additional coverage may be needed.

Note that you are personally responsible for providing this SAFE environment.
