Plans to build up to 5,500 new homes in western Swindon and Wiltshire have been met with concerns surrounding their impact on green space and the area's sustainability.
The buildings are part of the government's Regional Spatial Strategy, but the BBC reports that local residents harbour concerns regarding the construction plans.
A Wiltshire Council spokesman told the news agency: "Wiltshire Council planning officers will continue to work closely with officers in Swindon Borough Council to ensure that if the sites go forward, sustainable patterns of development are achieved with the appropriate infrastructure in place."
The project would involve the construction of thousands of homes during the next 16 years.
A meeting is to be held this evening (January 18th) in Peatmoor village in order to allow local residents to express concerns regarding the building project.
