Estimates vary on the costs of counterfeiting, but it certainly costs legitimate businesses £100bn or more annually, and every year, many tens of millions of pounds' worth of counterfeit electrical products reache UK shores. Many such cables are dangerous - sometimes highly so. It is no exaggeration to say that some of these products can and do kill. They also cause fires with depressing regularity across the world.
