Carillion/inspiredspaces and its joint venture partners in the Local Education Partnership, have achieved financial close on the £54 million Nottingham Academy.
Nottingham Academy is the largest Academy in Europe and the third to be delivered by Carillion as part of the Nottingham BSF programme. It will transform education facilities for 3,600 children aged three to 19.
The Nottingham Academy scheme will provide new and state-of-the-art buildings at the Greenwood Road site (the former Jesse Boot site) for 800 primary and 1,200 secondary students, together with remodelled and refurbished accommodation at the Ransom Road site for over 1,000 secondary students and the former Greenwood Dale site for a further 600 secondary students.
Mark Harding, inspiredspaces LEP General Manager said: “This is the third Academy to be delivered by the LEP in Nottingham and demonstrates the success of the LEP and its ability to deliver schemes that meet and exceed expectations, deliver on time and within budget. Considering design work only commenced in February, to reach financial close in less than 10 months is a tribute to the teamwork, commitment, hardwork and the determination of all involved, as well as excellent working relationships with the Academy.
“The Academy will provide fantastic new facilities which will enhance the learning and social environments for the pupils and staff.”
Major work started on the Academy in September 2009 and is due for completion in September 2011.
