ABB Drives Alliance partner APDS is now offering next day delivery for ABB PST(B) softstarters, cutting lead times from three weeks.
As the sole UK stockist, APDS’ new warehouse facility will allow it to carry the entire range of ABB PST(B) softstarters, from 30A up to 1050A, together with the appropriate line contactors.
APDS’ Doug Pitt says: “A typical time from book to build for these softstarters is three weeks. By holding a large stock, we bridge that gap and allow customers to get them when they need them.
“We are often asked to send drawings of the soft starters so that customers can plan where they will go in panels. Our new stock levels mean we can send the soft starter instead, allowing customers to start building the panels much sooner.”
APDS’ major customers for the ABB softstarters are pump manufacturers as well as other customers in the water industry. APDS will also be supplying the units to ABB's own Strategic Industrial Partners, a nationwide network of distributors providing service and support for ABB's LV products. APDS will also install and commission the PST(B) softstarters on site.
ABB PSTB softstarters feature torque control, a function that can be used for starting of any machinery, and especially for soft stopping of pumps. This gives much better control of water flow during the stop and prevents damage to pipes and valves.
