Wilts, the UK’s largest independent electrical wholesaler, has won Wholesaler of the Year Award for the second year running. The leading industry awards, organised by Electrical Times magazine, gives reward and recognition to the best in the industry.
Wilts won the award due to the initiatives it has introduced to stay strong during a hard economic period for the industry. Initiatives have included; a Management Academy to train employees, seeing an investment of £3,000 per head. Workbooks, to help staff develop business skills in understanding profit protection and recovery and an investment in essential new technology that provides a number of key benefits to customers, including reservation of stock and easy analysis of account history.
The judges were impressed with Wilts’ ability to diversify into other markets to stay competitive and to offer its customers something extra. This is the 17th year that the industry has acknowledged the achievements of those working in the UK’s electrical sector. Awards are presented to those companies, products and individuals who have excelled in their particular fields.
Managing Director David Purdon commented, “What a great way to end what has been a difficult year for all. I am delighted that we have won this award for the second year in a row, and thank the judges for acknowledging that we are working hard to stay ahead. The whole company has had to pull together over this last year and really focus on the future. We have introduced schemes which will remain with the business for many years to come and sometimes it is true to say that the best ideas come out of the most challenging times. I remain positive for 2010.”
