Born and raised in Ipswich, Steve was first exposed to working in the building industry while at school. A local M&E contractor invited students in for interviews and Steve jumped at the potential opportunity to become a draftsman. Despite his initial draftsman aspirations, Steve ended up “falling into” mechanical service engineering and hasn’t looked back since.
After a four year apprenticeship, Steve worked his way up the ladder, leading to him managing both local and London projects. Steve even held the prestigious position of Contracts Manager for the mechanical services sub-contractor involved in the construction of Wembley Football Stadium.
In his current role as
Senior Project Manager for
Inviron, a leading UK building services provider,
Steve is working on “
Suffolk One”, a large-scale educational development. This impressive
Ipswich project will create an innovative learning centre for over 2,000 16-19 year olds and is due to open for September 2010. Steve’s role varies from day to day and includes plenty of meetings – from project design and progress meetings to convening with sub-contractors; Steve’s job is to keep the project running smoothly.
Inviron, working alongside contractor ISG Jackson, will be installing a wide range of energy efficient technology at Suffolk One, including a rainwater harvesting system and roof-mounted solar panels to heat the water. Other Inviron installations at Suffolk One include heating, drainage, gas supplies and air conditioning, lighting, mains and sub-mains cabling, power outlets, alarm systems, CCTV and a standby generator.
When he’s not managing big building projects, Steve enjoys spending time with his Ipswich-based family. He is also a keen golfer and supporter of Ipswich Town Football Club.
