The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) is aiming to break last year’s record number of visitors to the Olympic Park as part of Open House London, the Capital’s largest architectural showcase.
People from all over London are invited to come on a bus tour of the Olympic Park on the 19 or 20 September 2009 to view the latest progress on site. As part of the ODA’s community engagement programme, 30,000 people have already been around the Olympic Park since the project began.
Construction is well underway on site with the external structure of the Olympic Stadium complete, the roof of the Aquatics Centre over halfway finished and building work well underway on the other main venues.
Open House Weekend will also offer visitors an opportunity to hear first hand from people working on the project, view films and venue models as part of an exhibition. This year the ODA will be providing tours for 4,000 people, compared with 3,000 in 2008 and 2,000 in 2007.
ODA Chairman John Armitt said: 'There will be 4,000 bus spaces available for this year’s Open House London weekend and visitors will be able to see the progress we are making on site for themselves. The external structure of the Stadium is now complete, the Aquatics Centre roof is over halfway finished and the foundations of the Velodrome are taking shape.'
