Last year Wilts invested in its Oxford branch by completing a total overhaul of the building. The branch doubled its floor space by moving into the unit next door, had a new trade counter, new office area, and 2 mezzanines. Within a few weeks a fire broke out overnight and the refurbishment, along with all its stock, was wrecked.
Within several hours the smoke damaged branch was open for business, sourcing stock for its customers from the main distribution centre in Trowbridge, making sure that it was business as normal.
The branch, which has 6 staff and 2 vehicles, is managed by Dave Whaley. Dave credits his team for ensuring that customers were kept as the main focus. “It’s vital that our customers weren’t inconvenienced by the fire, customer service is the area that we really excel in. Our customers are used to us having a wide variety of stock readily available and thankfully, with our branch network of over 70 branches and our 26,000 product lines, we had the support network around us. The fire was a real challenge, but we have come out of it and our trade is better than ever.”
He is looking to grow the business substantially over the following months by focusing on small to medium contractors, end users and Government bodies.
