Renewable and energy efficient technology group ENER-G has launched a structured careers programme designed to turn out green professionals.

The company aims to recruit up to 12 graduates per annum. ENER-G took on five graduates last year.

“Industries in the ‘green’ sector are chiefly engineering-based, requiring traditional engineering disciplines and this is the founding principle of our graduate development programme,” said ENER-G group managing director Derek Duffill.

“High calibre engineers are at a premium and we believe the environmental technology sector will continue to generate explosive growth for many years to come.

“It offers the long-term career goals and financial rewards that ambitious engineers are looking for.

“Crucially, it also gives them an opportunity to design, develop, manufacture and operate the technologies that can make such a positive difference to society on a global level.”

The recently published UK Low Carbon Industrial Strategy stated the UK low carbon and environmental services and goods sector is worth £106 billion and employs 880,000 people.

ENER-G has a turnover of £90 million – a 400 per cent increase over six years.
