Team UK includes Electrical Installation winner, Richard Sagar.  Richard is currently completing his apprenticeship at Eden Electrics in Langholm, Dumfriesshire.  His journey into representing the UK began when he entered and won class apprentice of the year in college.  This led to further competitions which eventually advanced him to where his is now – Electrical Installation UKSkills winner.

“The scale of the event and the skills required to compete at this standard highlight to me just what an honour it is to be involved,” said Richard. “It is a tantalising thought to consider what I am involved in and what is potentially around the corner.”

WorldSkills Calgary 2009 takes place from 1st-6th September and more information and coverage can be found at http://www.worldskills.org

London is next to host the next WordSkills event in 2011.  Do you know someone skilled enough to compete?  Young people aged 15 to 23, who are in education or training, and interested in qualifying for the next WorldSkills competition, can register soon via www.worldskillsuk.org
