Kopex International, the leading manufacturer of electrical conduit systems for hazardous areas, is reminding the market that the IECEx 60079 standard puts specific responsibilities on specifiers of electrical systems for use within areas covered by this standard. The company is publishing a guide that will provide information on the standard and how electrical conduits systems can be used to overcome problems.
As part of the guide Kopex-EX will be explaining the differences between zones, forms of protection and where the IECEx standard is used worldwide.
Furthermore it will explain the difference between a component and equipment which is specifically important in relation to 90 and 45 degree fittings. These are often perceived to be fully compliant pieces of equipment but are in fact components and should only be used once they have been tested and certified for use on a specific piece of equipment.
