Wilts, the UK’s largest independent electrical wholesaler, supported the Young Enterprise Trade Fair 2009 in Trowbridge by judging the event and awarding the Wilts cup to this year’s winners.
Wilts health and safety manager Dean Todd and assistant distribution manager Mike Sankey were impressed at how many start up businesses were thriving when they spoke to the 12 companies that had made it through to the shortlist of the Young Enterprise Trade Fair in Trowbridge.
Dean commented, “It was a real pleasure to support Young Enterprise. The effort that all of the students had put in made selecting the winners from among the 12 companies incredibly difficult.” “Wilts is used to winning awards as a result of our team efforts so it was very rewarding to see so many others achieving due recognition for their energy and enthusiasm.”
This year the number of participating teams was even higher than in previous years and the range and quality of the products was excellent.
“The enthusiasm of these young people is impressive”, said Tony Aldridge, chairman of the Young Enterprise board for Central Wiltshire. “They learn how to organise themselves into a real company, design and make products, and then sell them to members of the public. It’s not so much about profit but more about the team working skills which will stand them in good stead with future employers.”
Chairman of Young Enterprise Central Wiltshire, Tony Aldridge, thanked Wilts Wholesale for their sponsorship of the event and their commitment to the judging and presentation of the cups.
The overall winners of the Trade Fair were ‘Entrée’, an under 16 team from St Augustine’s Catholic College in Trowbridge, who received the Wilts Wholesale cup.
