In solar modules, electrical connections in photovoltaic components are established using a junction box.

Rapid Contacting for Photovoltaic Modules
pixel

Phoenix Contact has developed the PV-JB 2.5/2-20 junction box especially for use with thin film or crystal modules with lower power ratings. This box is available in an IP65-rated enclosure. This box stands out with its high degree of autonomy. Simply position it above the contact ribbons and press it down into place. This establishes the required contacts. In times of increasing cost pressures, this innovative feature offers an effective means for module manufacturers to increase productivity.

The junction box can make contact with two ribbons 4 mm wide and 0.3 mm thick. Since both the design and the materials in use comply with VDE 0126, this box conforms to current photovoltaic standards. Cables with external diameters ranging from 5.4 to 5.9 mm can be connected to the junction box.
