Find out more about the Code of Practice relating to this complaince related topic as explained by Trade Direct Insurance.
When buying an insurance policy the Financial Services Authority (FSA) the regulatory body forall financial services, requires that the customer receives certain information at the point of sale and other more detailed information after the sale. At Trade Direct most of our business with customers is conducted on the phone and we appreciate how busy customers are. The FSA permits us to ask your permission to receive only the basic information on the phone when you are buying the policy and all the detail of the insurance policy to be sent to you promptly. The FSA calls this ‘Contract Certainty’.
There is a Code of Practice that we adhere to that sets out the following principles:
1. When entering into a contract (buying a policy) - Trade Direct will ensure that all the terms are clear including any specific conditions.
2. After entering into the contract - all documentation must be sent to you promptly.
3. If you make any changes to your policy these must be documented promptly.
Trade Direct has to be able to show that they have met these principles. Hopefully, when you have taken out a policy with us you have felt you have had all the required information. As 85% of customer documentation is produced at Trade Direct House we are confident that you will receive all your documents within a few days. In certain circumstances we do rely on the insurance company to send out the documentation and in these cases you may wait a little longer to receive your documents. It is Important you read through your policy document and our terms of business agreement when you receive them to ensure that you have the right policy for your insurance needs. If you have any questions, please contact our office where an insurance adviser will be able to help you.
