Question: I'm fitting a new en-suite. The shower cable from switch to shower unit needs to go up to the loft, across five feet, then down again. What is the best way to route this cable?
The loft is insulated 150mm and boarded.
The cable also needs to pass through a joist. If a conduit is required - what type should I use?
The electrician will be completing the cabling - I just need to measure up and want to know what is required.
Answer: If you are planning to use PVC/PVC twin & earth cable, conduit or capping protection would be required where the cable is routed/concealed within the building fabric (not in the loft), and holes within timber joist would need to comply with Part A of the Building Regulations.
