Question: I have the following query regarding PYRO MI (mineral insulated) cable.

  • Plan pot seal.
  • For earth tail pot seal (stub cap with notch for earth tail).

Are the stub cap/ disc the same for both? Are there any photos/ data sheets available?

Answer: Use manufacturer's kits. It is recommended that the termination kits for mineral insulated cables are obtained to match the cable being used, i.e., from the same manufacturer.

Usually there are two types of kit supplied, one type plain and one type with an earth tail. These kits have different part numbers and prices are different. The components of each kit may not be the same - in particular to accommodate the earth tail, so a fresh kit should be used for each type of termination. If incorrect components are used, this may invalidate any warranty or system inspection.

The manufacturer should be contacted in the event of uncertainty, as kit design will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.
