ABB has expanded its range of passive infra-red (PIR) sensors with the launch of the cable-free Busch Watchdog 220 WaveLine, providing a true anytime, anywhere movement detector. With a 16m detection range and no need for any wiring, the ABB Busch Watchdog 220 Waveline can be installed in any location, making it ideal for use in a wide range of commercial and residential properties.
The device offers a range of operating options, including a group-operating mode, enabling up to 16 ABB Busch-Watchdog 220 WaveLine and actuators to communicate with each other. Other options include a single mode function, enabling only one WaveLine to send signals to a specific HR-receiver; and the repeater mode, where incoming signals can be passed to a maximum of six repeaters, enabling simultaneous relay of signals from various detectors to receivers over a distance of up to 100m.
As the external HF-receiver which controls the device can be easily installed behind a switch; hidden in ceilings, surface mounted boxes; or even into the base of a light fitting to receive signals from various detectors. This feature is ideal for the group-operating mode, as it provides heightened security for commercial and large properties when more than one sensor may be required.
To help prolong its battery-life, the ABB Busch Watchdog 220 WaveLine has been designed to minimise its power consumption. The device’s ‘power saving’ feature automatically deactivates the detector after three hours of continuous operation. Depending on the type of batteries used, this feature can help prolong the operating life of the device to up to 10 years.
Christian Schiemann, UK Product Sales Manager for ABB’s wiring accessories and PIRs, comments: “The new Busch Watchdog 220 WaveLine offers home owners with a simple device that helps dramatically improve safety, lighting efficiency and energy consumption. The device is ideal for integration into commercial buildings as the product’s ‘group operating mode’ supports larger properties where more than one sensor may be required. This will offer property owners big advantages by enabling them to significantly increase the security around a commercial or residential build whilst eliminating the time and money spent on connecting the device as no wiring is required.”
ABB’s Busch-Watchdog 220 WaveLine device also comes with the well-known features of the Busch-Watchdog ProfessionalLINE, including a 16 metre detection range, rear-field detection and advanced sensitivity capabilities enabling automatic adjustment to changes within the environment, such as increased temperatures during warm weather. An anti-dazzle feature also protects the PIR’s operation against any sudden flooding of light, for example from a car’s headlights.
The ABB Busch-Watchdog WaveLine 220 provides users with a practical ‘fit and forget’ device is ideal for a wide range of property types from terraced houses to farms, commercial and industrial buildings. It is now available in four colours including white, brown, anthracite and alu silver, with all models covered by a five-year warranty.
