ATG, the UK-based electrical engineering specialist, is enjoying reduced specification and assembly times for its mains distribution boards thanks to ABB’s Triline-R switchboard system. With most of the components pre-installed, the Triline-R range enables ATG to realistically deliver mains boards to its customers, typically halving the amount of time previously required.

As a member of ABB’s System Builder network, ATG can now offer its customers the Triline-R switchgear system from ABB, which can be used in all areas of electrical energy transfer and distribution, as well as for control technology applications.
Commenting on the system, Andrew Duff, Business Manager at ATG, enthuses: “The number of component parts within the Triline-R system has been considerably reduced and the use of the intelligent parts selection software results in reduced turnaround times to the customer. We are very impressed with the future flexibility of the Triline system, and are pleased to be able to make the range available to our customers.”
The Triline-R enclosure system has been designed to provide maximum flexibility for the installation of circuit breakers, switches, fuse gear and line protection devices whilst ensuring optimum safety and functionality for low-voltage switchgear assemblies, and other components. Plug-in module plates can be used to install Moulded Case Circuit Breakers (MCCBs) and switch fuses horizontally for when space is at a premium. Triline also provides flexible incomer options; from either the top or bottom of the enclosure, to suit the direction of incoming power cables.
ABB’s Panel Design Configurator (PDC) software tool enables panelbuilders to configure a board themselves. Available free to panelbuilders, it includes a parts list and a graphical representation of the front view of the distribution board.
Using the software, panelbuilders can now select and plan their boards, and choose the parts required. Parts can be dragged and dropped onto the front view image to check compatibility. They can then be placed onto an order form and sent to ABB. The PDC software also provides panelbuilders with the flexibility to export data and parts lists to other Windows programs. It can also be used for project planning purposes, by providing a facility where customer data can be stored alongside build projects.
