A Partnership Cast In Stone

2008-08-13
Vent-Axia

Class-leading ventilation products and an effective working partnership are combining to great effect in Vent Axia’s ongoing relationship with the UK’s leading builder of retirement apartments, McCarthy and Stone. Inspired by the Code for Sustainable Homes, the partnership delivers ‘best value’ ventilation solutions and ensures cost-savings and efficiency benefits to all members of the supply chain.

McCarthy and Stone has built over 40,000 homes in thirty years and entered into a partnership with Vent Axia at the end of 2006. Vent Axia is a single source for design, supply, installation and commissioning of all mechanical ventilation solutions at forty McCarthy & Stone sites across the UK.

Marc Primaroh of McCarthy and Stone comments: “Our partnership with Vent Axia actively demonstrates how two companies can cooperate, share knowledge and experience, and in the process achieve a cross over of ideas that leads to the development of new products and techniques to meet the combined challenges of the building regulations, the Code for Sustainable Homes and the Government’s carbon zero objectives."

Vent-Axia is involved at the initial stage of each the construction project to ensure both parties benefit from improved predictability and keep control of costs and time. This also allows for accurate forecasting and better value for money (both capital and revenue). The partnership has also achieved innovations in product design and quality through the early manufacturer involvement in the project. To this end, Vent Axia has developed three new products for McCarthy & Stone: two versions of a unique cooker hood extract system as well as a DC motor-powered MVHR product (SAP Q eligible) that has internal patented sensor controls to switch the unit to boost when required.

A wider benefit the partnership has created for the M&E industry is new trained national installer base to fit MVHR and MEV systems – the future of the ventilation industry. Simon Osborne of Vent Axia thinks that collaborative working is the way forward for the ventilation industry: “Recent research has shown recently that  M&E industry is market turning away from partnering. At Vent Axia we think this is a mistake. As our relationship with McCarthy & Stone shows partnering agreements can offer tangible benefits to all parties through their joint commitment to success. One of these can be seen through the development of a new MEV and MVHR systems and all the newly trained installer MVHR and MEV system installers.”
