The Joint Industry Board for the Electrical Contracting Industry (JIB) is inviting applications for this year's Further Education Fund, which provides financial assistance for those wishing to undertake further training or education in the electrical contracting industry.
The JIB Chairman, Sir Michael Latham says, "The JIB Further Education Fund continues to support individuals within the industry, and provides an opportunity vital for the industry's future prosperity. I would encourage JIB companies to support their employees in applying to the Fund to help develop their skills."
Applicants must be JIB graded employees participating in the JIB Combined Benefits Scheme or JIB registered apprentices. Funding will be provided for further education in the electrical contracting industry, which is over and above established and standard industry training provision for:
* People training to advance their career within the electrotechnical industry
* Courses or instruction in industry-related subjects
* Fact-finding and travel costs in relation to advanced industry courses.
Typical examples of grants that have already been awarded are: BSc/Foundation Degree in Building Services Engineering; BTEC National Certificate in Electrical Engineering; HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering; and ONC in Building Services Engineering. Additionally, awards have been granted for City & Guilds Certificates in Process Technology and CAD.
Where an application meets the criteria and is successfully accepted, the JIB will fund 50 per cent of any course fees to a maximum of £500.
