ECA trains one thousand 17th Edition delegates
9th July 2008 - Wolverhampton City Council (WCC) bagged a BS7671 bonus today, as employee Paul Heath became the thousandth candidate to undergo 17th Edition training at the Electrical Contractors Association (ECA).
ECA marked this momentous milestone by presenting Mr Heath with test equipment and BS7671 publications during a three-day course on the new Wiring Regulations at the ECA West Midlands Regional Office in Penkridge, Staffordshire. The 17th Edition (IEE Wiring Regulations) was one of the hottest topics on the industry circuit during 2007 and since its publication in January this year, the huge awareness surrounding the revised British Standard has sparked high demand for courses at the Association.
On hitting the thousand mark five months into the delivery of their nationwide BS7671 training programme, Iain Macdonald Head of Education and Training at ECA said: “There is a real hunger for knowledge concerning the 17th edition and this has been reflected in the overwhelming uptake of our training courses. We were surprised at just how many people were eager to get up to standard well before the changes came into effect on July 1st. ”
Wolverhampton City Council became Associate Members (client specifier) of the ECA in March of this year. Council representative Peter Thomason said “As a Local Authority we need to be up to date with current practice and major technical issues in the industry. We attended the ECA’S free 17th Edition seminars last year and now some of my colleagues are taking the qualification. We’ve found the training to be valuable, informative and extremely worthwhile.”
Ongoing ECA 17th Edition training courses are available at venues nationwide. For details visit www.eca.co.uk/17.
