Question: How does an auto power factor panel work with a capacitor bank for three-phase operation? In other words, please provide me with an explanation of APFC.
Answer: A controller monitors the power factor and switches capacitors in or out to maintain the power factor. An article published in the Spring of 2006 in the IEE's Wiring Matters magazine gives a brief overview of the subject and is accessible via the IET website (www.theiet.org).
