The famous Walkers Shortbread is in worldwide demand and its products are exported to 65 countries from its home in the Scottish Highlands. With its existing factories working to capacity Walkers Shortbread has opened a new factory in Elgin. The security and safety of the workers being paramount, G.A.Barnie specified Prysmian’s FP200 Gold cable to power the fire alarm system, installed in the plant rooms and loft space in the Walkers Shortbread Factory

The £8 million investment needed a cable that would be durable, easy to install and meet the requirements of BS5839-1:2002, which is vital when installing fire alarm systems.
Graham Nicol, Branch Manager of G.A. Barnie says, “With the use of Prysmian FP200 Gold and FP glands we were able to cut the installation time down by a third. Prysmian’s FP cable was quicker to install and more efficient than the old MICC cable, but still has the same fire rating and meets the requirements needed for the project. The cable used was pliable and was easy to strip back for termination and installation. The cable was also flexible enough to install down the small partitians and difficult areas.”
