During the campaign period, which ran from May 2007 to May 2008, Philips made a donation to WWF for every MASTER TL5 and MASTER TL-D Eco lamp sold in Europe.
Jan Poelman, senior vice-president at Philips Lighting, is very pleased that the campaign turned out to be such a great success. “The joint eco-campaign was focused on raising awareness on the importance of energy efficient lighting in the professional market.
Still, almost 75% of all buildings use inefficient lighting. By simply replacing T8 fluorescent lamps with MASTER TL-D Eco lamps companies immediately save more than 10% energy. However, even more effective is to upgrade to a T5 fluorescent system with lighting controls. Resulting in energy savings of even up to 75%. In this way, companies not only reduce their electricity bill, but also reduce their CO2 emissions. While benefiting from best-in-class quality light of course.”
Oliver Rapf, head of Business & Industry Engagement with the World Wildlife Fund was also very grateful for the outcome of this campaign. “WWF runs various programs in Europe to promote energy efficiency and to reduce the emissions of greenhouse gasses. The effects of climate change show to be more dramatic than previously anticipated on. We will allocate the revenues of this joint campaign with Philips to these programs,” said Mr. Rapf.
