The UK based air management expert Vent-Axia has outlined its commitment to supporting British sport with its continued partnership with the Paul Bird Motorsport World Superbike racing team.
Following a collaboration of several years on the British Superbikes circuit, the team takes the step up to World Superbike for 2008 and is officially known as Vent-Axia VK Honda.
As the only British team in the field, Kevin Sargeant, MD at Vent-Axia, is proud to fly the flag: “We’ve had great success with Paul Bird Motorsport on the British scene and to progress to such a prestigious world championship is really exciting. We’re sure there’ll be a few ups and downs, being the first season, but I’m certain we’ll be challenging for honours in the second half of the year and everyone’s especially looking forward to the rounds at Brands Hatch and Donington in the summer.”
Setting out its intentions, Vent-Axia VK Honda has drafted in the former British Superbike champion, Gregorio Lavilla, to ride the new Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade and, with pre-season testing times equal to the leading Ducatis, there may well be a few surprises along the way.
Lavilla himself has been impressed with the set-up at Vent-Axia VK Honda: “The team is highly professional and well organised, with a good budget and the latest spec 2008 bikes. This is a dream ticket for me. With my knowledge of the world circuits and the backing of the team and sponsors there’s a real chance of upsetting the big boys and challenging for podiums.”
The World Superbike championship takes place at 15 circuits across the world, it began in Qatar on 23 February and culminates in a grand finale at Portugal’s Portimao in November.
You can follow the Vent-Axia team’s progress live on British Eurosport throughout the season and there may even be the chance to win exclusive invitations to race weekends. Keep an eye on www.vent-axia.com for competition details.
Also supporting World Supersport rider, Tommy Hill, riding for the Hannspree Honda Althea team, Vent-Axia is proud to work with some of the brightest names in British racing.
