More than 6,000 secondary school children are able to ‘whiz’ down the information superhighway with the very latest IT equipment thanks to the installation of 18km of Mita trunking installed as part of an £82 million PFI scheme through electrical contractor, Lorne Stewart. Ultra, a 190 x 62 mm trunking, has two compartments with a dedicated data compartment measuring 75x62mm, capable of holding up to 48 cat 6 UTP cables. Designed to accommodate future Cat 7 and even fibre optic cable, Ultra 60 has enabled Lorne Stewart to futureproof the installations at the six schools. It not only met with strict Cat 6 bend radius requirements but proved extremely easy to install, with a pre-drilled centre compartment allowing up to four data cables to pass through the dividing wall up to the data outlet. Mita trunking was supplied through electrical wholesaler, Bennett & Fountain.
