VoltiBULLETIN - May 2006 - Electro-Magnetic Compatibility (EMC)

This month, you can learn a little more about Electro-Magnetic Compatibility. Read on...

Dear User,

This month, you can learn about a little more about EMC and recent changes to the Directive. Read on:

Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) is the ability of two or more electronic or electrical systems (or units) to co-exist without either disturbing the correct operation of the other.

The original mandatory Directive (89/336/EEC) came into force in January 1992. Under this Directive, OEMs have a legal requirement to state that their equipment satisfies the requirements of the EMC Directive.

However, the UK regulations implementing the EMC Directive have been recently revised, and this VoltiBULLETIN looks at the changes, and how they, and the original Directive, affect the design and operation of equipment.

If you have a question on this topic, click here to consult one of Voltimum's technical experts.

Kind Regards,

James Hunt - Editor
