E-tradesman insurance gives round the clock access for electricians

BookmarkThis 30.04.2007

Electricians will be able to change their insurance cover at any time of the day or night with a new online liability insurance launched this month:

eTradesmanInsurance provides public, product and employee liability with a range of cover options to meet specific tradesmen's requirements (www.etradesmaninsurance.co.uk). Uniquely, it is claimed, customers can manage their entire policy online - obtaining the quote, buying the policy, making changes and renewing the policy - at any time of the day or night.

eTradesman's Matt Whitley said: "Because electricians work all day they need to do their admin in the evenings or at the weekend - when many insurance call centres are closed! eTradesman never closes and it's very easy to make changes.

"For instance, you might take on an extra temporary employee for a particular contract. You can add his details to the eTradesman cover within minutes, you can print out the certificate there and then, and they are all covered for work the next day."

The company behind eTradesmanInsurance.co.uk also developed the highly successful eVanInsurance.co.uk. "As a result, we know tradesmen want this easy, round-the-clock access via the web," said Matt Whitley.

The Public Liability part of the policy covers against death or bodily injury to the public and for loss or damage to someone else's property. Products liability gives protection in the event that any product made or supplied by the tradesman to someone causes injury or damage through his or her negligence. It includes solicitors fees, all costs and litigation expenses, damages and claimant's costs.

Statutory requirement:

Employers liability insurance is a statutory requirement to provide in the event of death or bodily injury to employees whilst they are working for you. As a contractor working on site, contract conditions may make the tradesman responsible for the works, materials and plant, including hired-in plant, while on site.

The optional Contract Works element of the policy covers any loss or damage to temporary or permanent works whilst undergoing construction. Other options include cover for stock, business equipment, loss of money and commercial legal protection.
