Product Ref.: CCH

Paul Cook Secretary, Wiring Regulations Committee

The Wiring Regulations Committee have prepared proposals for the UK to adopt the European wiring colours.

The Draft for Public Comment; is available from the BSI, the Voltimum Library and on the IEE website.

It is planned to allow installations starting on site on or after 1st April 2004 to use either the old or new colours, but not both. Installations starting on site after 1st April 2006 must be wired in the new colours. The new colours are shown in the format of Table 51 of the IEE Regulations.
